Amazing Things We’ve Built

Why the environment is so important when buying a house in Spain

In the Netherlands it is easy to quickly get a good picture of a neighbourhood or street. Information about the living environment, facilities and atmosphere is available everywhere, and the country is clear and compact.

However, Spain is many times larger and even the Costa Blanca itself covers a huge area. A lot has been built in recent years, but unfortunately also in places where there has been little or no development. This can have consequences for the value stability of your home and for your living pleasure.

We therefore believe it is essential to provide you with as much relevant information as possible about the area surrounding a home. Not only about what it is like now, but also about what you can expect in the future. For the quality of life, daily enjoyment and for a solid investment, the area is at least as important as the home itself.

Together with you, we select regions and zones that match your wishes, now and in the long term. Of course, you are free to search wherever you want and we will always clearly indicate the advantages and disadvantages of a particular location.

Spain has something for everyone. But in our opinion, carefully mapping out good areas is an absolute added value for anyone considering buying a home in Spain.

The Costa Blanca – why choose the south?

A great deal has already been written about the Costa Blanca. We focus specifically on the Costa Blanca South. Of course, you can find numerous sources of information on the internet, and what is striking is that a positive story is told almost everywhere.

And that is not so strange, because it is simply the truth.

The Costa Blanca South is known as one of the healthiest areas in Europe, with clean air and a particularly favourable climate. This is partly due to the unique combination of sea, salt lakes and pinar trees. These elements ensure a special effect on the soil and in the air. It is not without reason that people with rheumatism, heart or skin complaints often feel better here.

The climate is very pleasant, with many hours of sunshine and mild winters. An important difference with the Costa Blanca North, the area north of Alicante, is the difference in temperature in winter.

In the north, the hills are closer to the coast, which can cause a difference of a few degrees. For people who want to spend the winter, this can make the difference between ‘nice and soft’ or ‘fresh and chilly’.

Whether you choose a place close to the sea or a bit more inland: the Costa Blanca South has something for everyone. And in all those cases, you choose beautiful surroundings, healthy air and a good quality of life.

Living on the Costa Blanca South

Daily life on the Costa Blanca South is comfortable and well organised. The infrastructure is excellent, as are the medical facilities. You will find a wide range of shops such as Lidl, Spar, Aldi and the well-known Spanish supermarket Mercadona. Even Action has now found its place in Spain.

The local population usually does not speak fluent English or Dutch, but they are friendly and helpful. If you take the trouble to learn a few Spanish phrases yourself, you will notice that this is very much appreciated – whether you are in a shop, at the doctor’s or in a restaurant.

The public services are excellently organised. The police, GPs, chemists and vets are easily accessible and professional. The road network is also a breath of fresh air compared to the Netherlands: traffic jams are rare. Especially when you drive a little inland, it is not unusual not to see another car for minutes, while you are only ten minutes away from a bustling shopping centre.

The Costa Blanca South also has modern shopping centres. One of the best known is La Zenia Boulevard – a large open-air centre set up like a small village with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Regular activities are organised, also especially for children. It is the perfect place for a relaxing day out.
